If there’s one time of year that every business owner loves, it’s Christmas. We enjoy fewer demands on our time, we take advantage of the fact that most other businesses are shutting shop for a few days too, and we get a proper break. And for most business owners, it’s a time that they look forward to throughout the rest of their entire year. But I’m going to let you in on a little secret. The truth is, business owners can enjoy the Christmas effect whenever they want to take a holiday. A real holiday, doing the things that you want to do, without notifications and distractions – any time of year. Sound good? Here’s how you make it happen: 1. You change your mindset. Stop falling into the trap of thinking your business is too unique for someone else to respond to specific enquiries. I’ve had enough experience with a plethora of different businesses to know that it’s just not true. 2. You take a step back. Let go of the reins on communication and hand over your inbox and inbound calls to someone else. Whether it’s your team or a call answering service who does it, it’ll be the best thing you ever do. It’s inexpensive and it’ll make your business look so much better. 3. You build a trustworthy team. If you’re currently providing your entire service alone, simply get some help to do it. Create and implement training and best practice so that you can bring staff you trust into the fold. Follow these simple steps and you won’t bat an eyelid at turning off your mobile and ignoring your inbox when it’s time to take a holiday.
