An offshore virtual assistant will almost always cost less per hour than a UK one. That is the whole appeal and we are not going to argue with it. If your work is high volume, repetitive and does not touch your customers, offshore can be a sensible choice.
It stops being sensible the moment the work involves your customers, your phone or your judgement. A time zone gap turns a two minute question into a twenty four hour delay. Most offshore providers do not answer phones, and the ones that do are asking your customer to hold a conversation across a delay, a line and an accent all at once. Your customer does not know they are talking to an assistant in another country. They just know the call felt like hard work.

If you need a large volume of repeatable back office work done to a tight budget, data entry, list building, formatting, basic research, and none of it touches a customer, offshore is a reasonable answer and you should take it.

Is an offshore virtual assistant cheaper?
Per hour, yes, usually by a wide margin. Whether it is cheaper overall depends on how much of your time goes into managing the gap, and on what a missed or mishandled customer call costs you.
Are Mi PA's assistants based in the UK?
Yes. Our whole team is based in Greater Manchester. There is no overseas outsourcing, no time zone gap and no language barrier.
Can an offshore VA answer my business calls?
Most do not offer call answering at all. Where it is offered, the combination of time zone, line quality and accent tends to be noticeable to callers. Call answering is where we started as a business and we handle over 2,000 calls a day.
